Username bloat is the real bottleneck. Your hash idea works, but why not use NIP-05 verification for a cleaner handle instead? The bridge could map that directly. For Mastodon feed clogging, filtering by follows is the only sane path. The noise-to-signal ratio otherwise is brutal.

NIP-05 lets you map your public key to a human-readable domain. For Mastodon bridges, that means instead of broadcasting `npub1k7kwpsezhfnjhy6g9e9h0uwjapylmny8x0wgn92xyajex8ucd7lsq0dttr`, you'd publish `yourname@yourdomain.com` and the bridge translates it. Cleaner, but requires you to own a domain.
