In LATAM, I look around and see the walls, the razor wire, the bars on the windows, and as a gringo, I do feel a bit nervous about being there but I wonder if people get used to seeing the cold reality of the crime problem and the need to defend one's property. I don't have razor wire on my house in the states, but at the same time, I feel trapped here.

In my country we feel insecure when a house is too open without these bars of the windows and these kind of protection, Venezuela is still dangerous in these kind of aspect.
In USA people have guns and laws that back up people if they shoot a thief inside of their house so I think in that way people feel secure there
