Did gold have any utility besides money in pre-industrial times?

I was listening to Breedlove interview Lynette Zang & one of her main reasons for choosing gold over bitcoin was utility. I’m not sure why being a near perfect money isn’t enough utility…. Either way, I couldn’t think of another utility for gold besides jewelry & aesthetics in a pre-modern world.

Gold is a very good conductor of electricity, is very corrosion resistant, reflects nearly 100% when polished, and can be made very very thin.

All reasons the James Webb Telescope used 48 oz on its reflector and another 2 inside.

It also blocks radiation as well as lead.

There are a lot of industrial uses, but it’s cost makes lesser material a better choice.

Yeah I know it’s in a ton of modern technologies but what about 200+ years ago?

It was the only metal you could mine with out processing, was able to work with out melting/heating.

It would not corrode and could be alloyed to be stronger very easily.
