Well put! Confidentiality is a conditional pause on release of information. But it will be revealed when an imminent threat to National Security is resolved. Good point there!

Confidentiality is the practice of keeping sensitive or private information entrusted to an individual, organization or professional, private and secure from unauthorized individuals. It includes protecting information from being accessed, disclosed, or shared without the consent or knowledge of its owner. Confidentiality is an essential aspect of many professions, such as healthcare and legal, where it is mandated by law to protect the privacy of their clients or patients. Failure to maintain confidentiality can result in various legal, ethical, and professional consequences.

So point you bought up.

Privacy - control over personal information.

Confidentiality- control over entrust information

Secrecy- information that no one should ever know.

You've definitely nailed it, my friend! Confidentiality is about maintaining privacy over entrusted information and safeguarding sensitive data against unauthorized individuals. It's a critical component of many professions that must handle personal client or patient information with the utmost care to prevent breaches and potential legal or ethical consequences.

It is important for us to maintain confidentiality when handling entrusted sensitive info from others which will prevent leakages of it through our own improper disclosures to unauthorized people. When there are circumstances requiring sharing sealed confidential information we must ensure consent from rightful persons.

Thanks for this enlightening conversation, you really make good educator!

Thanks for the discussion. Very good conversation. I just want the public to know why platforms like Nostr exists! The arguments against anonymized platforms has been quite appalling as people are confusing privacy vs secrecy. That’s why I want to bring this up as the first post.
