Magic was actually “cool” for a hot minute lol
i had friends who went to the shops with the cards and the comics
i was with the computer tho, i tried to interact with that crowd, many of my contemporaries at the library were either computer or tabletop gamers, i was the former, one of the notable latter dubbed me "evil ed" because i did look an awful lot like the dude out of that movie, was pretty funny scene, the library dwellers, totally split in two
i have long considered it the approval seeking nerds, and the rebel geeks, and mostly the geeks like the computers at that time
"geek" was even a slur back then, one little turd jerk child of petrolhead/football type dubbed me "geek" it was my actual nickname according to him
yes, the other geeks taht i got along with were book geeks, and i also liked a lot of books, and a lot of the books i liked were what the book geeks liked, but they lked movies more than me
I liked books too.
We come from that time when we had to pull index cards to get more info on things…. OR…. ask adults, which often replied: “that’s something you need to talk to your parents about”
yeah, and we just found another way around it, usually!
also i understand you are a dock worker... i made a great friend back circa 2010 who was a dock worker, also very fit (he may have been a bit bigger than you) but his thing was soldering copper pipes and rods into pyramids and meditating, and he introduced me to alex jones, who led me to Ron Paul and then Mises
Shipyard. I work on warships in various roles from preservation to fitting, etc.
mostly abrasive blasting and plural component airless / powder coating.
ah, ok, not quite the same, you aren't moving stuff around but repairing and maintaining the big machines
That and removing degraded coating systems via high pressure abrasive “blasting” with a hose akin to a firehose that shoots grit at high velocity to expose steel or other substrates and removes rust, mil scale and contaminates in order to clean and prep the surface (ie: the hull of the entire aircraft carrier) in preparation for a and entirely new series of coatings to be applied per mil-spec.
