What would be the best AMD CPU for a startOS server?
I would like to go with socket AM4 and PCI express 4.0!
Best in the sense that it is also affordable.

If you want to go heavy with the server I'd say Ryzen 9 5950X.
Mid range I'd say AMD Ryzen 7 5800X
Entry level I'd say AMD Ryzen 5 5500
For server roles that demand lots of simultaneous threads (virtual machines, heavy I/O, parallel jobs), more cores/threads are worth it. The Ryzen 9 5950X. If you won’t need peak multi-threading, a Ryzen 7 or Ryzen 5 CPU still gives very good performance for web, file, caching, or small container servers.
Just doing a similar thing.
Also with AM4.
But for me it’s more a all around server on a budget.
Main target for me tho, i 3D design and print my own case for a uATX board.
Yet i think on AM4 the best you can get is a 5750G Pro. Supports ECC Ram.
I went for the 5700G, because as said, on a budget. Available around me is also bad for the Pro.
