If weather is becoming more and more harsh, that means the air mass is also becoming more turbulent.

Pilots are briefed before and mid flight about the possible turbulent air and much more. Not sure why they didn't take precautions.

Flying is awesome but air can always have a nasty surprise for every pilot.
