Unfortunately not possible to have a proper payment integration as they are closed source service and don't provide any way to integrate with them. Only thing you can do is embed a pay button (via HTML snippet) afaik.

Can I configure a btcpay server for free or is it a paid service?

Yes it is free and open source. You can install it yourself at home, on a virtual server or use it custodially by joining a 3rd party host. See https://docs.btcpayserver.org/Deployment/
