My solution will eventually hosting my own relay for my own content. I don't know enough to have any other solutions to offer.
I saw there was some.. Like easy to premade solutions for relay. But I don't think that's up ur alley. And I'm in the same boat like you. I'm already looking at start9

Start9 looks good, but is too focused. I'm currently attempting to get umbrel running.
From what I'm told its a mixed bag. Some have said its awesome, others have said its trash. So food for thought

Start9 seems to be much more focused on reliability, just at the cost of versatility.

Umbrel’s software will probably be enough for what you need, at least for now. Just PLEASE do yourself a favour and do not get scammed into buying their hardware. It’s overpriced garbage. I made that mistake so you don’t have to 😂

If you're running Linux it should just be one command and you're up and running, what's going wrong?
The latest update from umbrel prevents you from doing that. You have to install it from a friggin iso. I'm so pissed about that.
The issue is that I'm trying to run it via a proxmox server, and I can't get the VM I've set up for umbrel to boot from the formatted USB drive. Like I said elsewhere, I like to make my life really hard sometimes. 🫣😅😱👀🙄
