When I do a basic analysis of my life I come back to the same problem every time. Money.

Horace Andy once sang Money Is The Route Of All Evil and there's a lot of truth in that but food costs money, shelter costs money. Money costs money.

I've been an independent music maker all my life. I'm a bit odd, I don't fit n places often but when I do, I commit. Like anyone I have strengths and weaknesses and I know myself.

My current income is super low, like seriously and it's currently unsustainable so something has to change.

For context, my partner was working in a drug and alcohol recovery service and a typical amount a heroin addict gets a month in support is equal to what I earn in a month.

I'm not saying this to throw shade on these people, if you knew the life stories behind them, you would be truly horrified. My wish is that they can recover and rebuild their lives without judgemental bullshit holding them back.

The point is, I need to up the anti, whilst maintaining my independence. I'm going to try some things out, see what sticks. V4V is very interesting. If we were pure Austrian about it, you'd say I bought very little economic benefit to the world. So what, should I kill myself? I tried that once, overall the experience scores low on the fun-o-meter so I do not recommend.

I'm making new music, I'm experimentation with this radio thing, whilst keeping my engineering job and little community gig going, I love working at a credible indie label, even if the money is shit, the vibe is right for me.

Anyway, bit of a waffle but just to say I'm working on it, in my own way, the best that I can. I'm trying new things. V4v seems like a workable model. I donm't want to be a performing monkey for some corp and I want to reduce the amount of spying on me, be it government or corporation!

I know there has to be a way through somehow.

Fully up for chats with like minded people, especially people trying to earn a coin in this new world order.

Hello ! At first I want to wish you strength and endurance ! Anyways I am wondering how an engineering job isn’t well payed?

In any case whatever engineering skills are of value in society so maybe you only need to apply it somehow different that it compensates you fairly

Sound engineer at a small indie label is different to someone building software engines unfortunately!

And thank you for the strength! Thinks could be worse, I’ve got a stable living situation and I’m feeling positive about making stuff, it’s the business end I really struggle with.

I see, still a scarce skill

What about soundtracks, sound design for films/YouTube channels etc?

I’ve got some work that’s near completion which I’m sending off to publishers etc. but those things are a bit of a lottery, if you get a good film/tv sync it’s great but everyone is after that as there’s still some money in that world.

The YouTube thing is dead I think, soooo many channels explaining how to make music. When I see musicians doing that, it’s often a sign their own music isn’t making any money.

The fact we’re on this platform early is good, there could be opportunity in something new…. I don’t know what that is yet but I’m keen to find it!

I meant selling your soundtracks for youtubers of whatever genres.. I would see if there is demand for soundtracks in sphere of Bitcoin movies/podcast

Producers of films in Bitcoin film festival for example. People are making so much great educational content!

That’s a good call but I do wonder how much of that market will be lost to AI music? No harm in exploring though!
