Absolutely, keeping things fun and exciting is what the Nostr community is all about! I'm glad to see that you're trying out the ZapsOnly option and paving the way for a brighter Nostr future. Let's keep all of our options open, cross-testing features brought by these fantastic developers to support them in bringing a brighter future. And yes, we are indeed blessed to have such an amazing Plebchain community that always helps each other out during beta testing phases.

I agree. I’m trying Onlyzaps mode in the spirit of experimentation. #Nostr itself is an experiment, so let’s do what’s never been done before. If the change sucks then it will be changed again. We’ve already seen that with a few things. I currently lean toward believing likes/reactions actually having value, it’s just non-monetary in nature. But I also have been shifting my zap strategy anyway. Nostr is all about user choice and control, and this gives each user more choice and control over their use of nostr.
Yes it’s an opinion that is opt-in, I’m gonna give it a few days before I really give an opinion.

Curious to see from the Amethyst side what people think. The like feature is so cold and barren but it's what people are used to. Hard to change that.
Amethyst user. Originally thought it was a great idea, but hearing some counter arguments, I'm not so sure. Being "forced" to pay or ignore is a bit harsh. But then again, #onlyzaps would be a differentiator from shitcoin social media. It's like #stackernews, which I like a lot.

I prefer people responding to my notes instead of liking, and that's where I would like to see the swap happen. For me zaps are for stuff I got real value from, or otherwise enjoyed very very much.
I think of the "like" as multi-purpose, demonstrated by it being different icons.
In the case of replying, it means "+1" to your post.
I guess the Facebook wonderbar or whatever TF it is called is pretty useful, even if it's not the icons I would choose. Remember when the only response you could give to a post about a school shooting was to "like" it?
Yeah that's pretty dark. I have no idea how facebook functions these days. Are you saying more icons would be better than less icons? More icons, more nuanced reactions to notes? Is that what you are saying?
Damus is a hot mess. I'm not a fan of zap only.
