We made an impulse purchase at the local animal swap. 😂

I’ve been eyeing this guy’s beautiful adult Muscovys for months now, and today he sold me 8 one-week-old ducklings for $20! (It was the end of the event and he didn’t want to have to take any back home.)

These little rascals have sharp claws, are known to be broody mamas and protective papas, but still easy to tame, adults require minimal housing and feed, they have tasty meat and eggs, and will be out free-ranging in a couple months. 😍

Having had muscovies, I can confirm that they’re great mums and you’ll need to clip their wings. When they’re starting to get broody, the ducks are incredibly tame.

The guy we got them from says the ones he raises from babies always stick close to home, so hoping that’s truly the case.
