The process of human evolution has enabled many wondrous things, none of which includes the creation of a moral code. In the West, this moral code has come to dominate and permeate all of our understanding and over-code our experience and existence. This moral code of black and white, of rigid hierarchy and structure, has been pervasive amongst the world through the expansion of colonization of the mind and body. This code seeks to rationalize and simplify the complex systems that are inhabiting the world today, many of which one person cannot simply begin to grasp. We happily will contend that there are good and bad people, when in fact there are people. And to say that one cannot be held responsible for their actions is of course ludicrous. I'm not proposing that people acting shouldn't be able to be held responsible for that. What I'm saying is we should treat people's actions as a symptom rather than a disease. We should rehabilitate their bodies and minds. This is the basis of rehabilitative justice.
