I think it won't get to that. Mars will likely become occupied by robots only. I don't think we humans can be taken out of our magnetosphere without falling apart.

I would think that robots are very capable of performing economic transactions where Bitcoin payments on 2nd or 3rd layers are ideal. So the time chain would still need a solution…
