As I'm now 40+, I really feel the government should do more to care about older people

I have already saved enough for retirement and can retire already. That's not the problem. I'm single, I don't have a family. So I'll probably move into a retirement home when I'm 60+

But if something were to happen to me and impair my cognitive faculties, how would I manage my money?

There should be some kind of a way to leave your money with the government and not banks ... So that the government can take care of you.

No you should leave your legacy close to your circle. Not central authorities.
