Our comfrey was planted this spring. I am reluctant to split any roots the first year.
The plant has flowered once so far. I noticed the stem has hairs like a tomato so I planted 3 cuttings.
After several weeks I figured it wasn't going to work.
Then yesterday I saw a leaf coming out. I pulled the other two out and one other one is rooting.

how much of a cutting did you plant?
I've been propagating from roots, but propagation from cuttings, even if it took longer, would be easy and better for the "mother" plant.
can't wait to try this.

Yeah comfrey is resilient, I got a root with only one leaf and that had broke off in the shipping a few years back and now I have it in about 8 huge clumps around our yard and another 10 solo cups with leaves sprouting out
