Batching makes sense for pleb nodes. I am mostly interested in mobile, yes. I’m trying to keep an open mind re self-custody mobile Lightning. Though I suspect mobile wallets will start adopting more federated subnets like Liquid and Fedimint. The trust trade-off makes a lot of sense to lower liquidity needs and fees for end user payments.

Going custodial makes everything easier 🙂

Lightning is the most liquidity efficient way to do self-custody Bitcoin payments.

Fees for end user payments are still much better than L1, comparing to custodial isn’t apples to apples as custodial has limitations for access

Depends on the size of the payment. Monthly invoices for freelance work have been cheapest on-chain for me for the past two years. Even in high fee environments it’s lower than the 1% (plus on-chain fee for splicing) when receiving to a self-custody Lightning wallet.
