I started reading Ghengis Khan and the Making of the Modern World by Jack Weatherford and so far I’m fascinated. There is so much to learn here, and so much I didn’t know.

Such as?
According to the author Ghengis Khan’s empire spanned from China to Europe. That the Renaissance was enabled due to the Mongols ridding them of the knights, opening up trade and sharing new technologies with the Europeans.
Interesting.

this is from altai, on the border with mongolia
i think that the mongolians have a lot more to be proud of than anyone recognises
Thanks for this, I will check it out. I do agree, the Mongols were later painted as barbarian warriors but author maintains a very different picture.
It definitely is, even Chaucer wrote about Ghengis Khan and the Mongols! I think there is more to learn here.
Interesting 👀
Would you recommend it?
Hi Jay! Yes I would definitely recommend the book. His writing style is easy to read and it reads like a story. The information is fascinating and I’m sad I don’t know more about this great man. He appears to have been better than Alexander, Napoleon or the Romans. But has been vilified by the world for some reason.
