The Empty Coin

The Spider King was raised by the sages

He was crowned with every sort of wisdom and technical mastery

He forged for his people a mighty Coin: a token symbolizing the highest learning, pure Emptiness

But the Spider King was rich and mighty

He had more Emptiness than even the wisest sages could consume

The people began to drown in the Emptiness

One day a Buddha came and forged a new Coin, not a token of Emptiness but pure Emptiness itself

The Buddha, being poor, had only so much Emptiness

And the people rejoiced, for now they had a more perfect Emptiness

But a Blind Fool found this Emptiness to be mere emptiness, and had no use for it
