Today, May 5, 2023, there will be a so-called penumbral lunar eclipse.
As you observe it, it will appear as if the Moon is somewhat blackened from the left edge by black smoke. The darkening will intensify around 7:23 p.m. In our area 🇨🇿the Moon will still be below the horizon at that time. It will rise in the Czech Republic about half an hour after the peak of the phenomenon, when the darkening will still be relatively visible.
Ideal viewing is far from civilisation and in a place with a perfectly exposed east-south-eastern horizon, ideally, for example, high in the mountains.
