Framed #637 (nah. My back is a bit better, or I have gotten more used to it, or a bit of both. I watched the end of La noche mรกs larga and Hellboy (2019) on Amazon Video. There is a category of films that are conceptually, realistically, and stylistically absurd but at no point expect the viewer to take them seriously. As an example John Wick is in that category while The Davinci Code* isn't in that category because it wants to be taken seriously. Hellboy, 2019, isn't so ironic it doesn't expect a viewer to enter into it's world, and isn't ironic about itself, so I don't feel the irony is acting as an excuse. It's bollocks but it's unpretentious bollocks. Seems like a good rule for involvement in it which is presumably why Ian McShane, David Harbour, Milla Jovovich, Sasha Lane, Daniel Dae Kim and other competent people fronted it. That and the money.)

* I was going to list the books I think it was influenced by but that seems unfair because it's associating them with The Davinci Code.
