I don't see why not on a technical perspective. Zaps per impression instead of CPC could be shared with viewers and relay operators that permitted it.
The problem is Google owns the massive adoption and search platform. That's hard to replicate.
Might be a better UX for users. Might even be more effective for some advertisers. But it won't unthrone them in the near future.

I hate ads so much. I think I would instantly disconnect from any relay that implemented something like this.
Google ads censors/monetizies politicially. We cant let them have this power , there has to be an alternative .
Im not on about ads for Nostr users , but rather using Nostr FOR ads on other webpages.

There'd have to be a pretty big carrot attached.
Not only a significant share of the sats, but impressive spam filtering so that things like the "airdrop bots" never again showed up in my feeds.
I can tune out ads knowing I'm not clicking but the impressions alone give me Sats.
But my inclination would be to abandon the relay too. I hate ads too.
