For clarity, we'd like to point out that our app does not currently support encrypted group chats. Instead, we are using nip28 public channels. 😄

If I've understood correctly, I think nostr:npub12rv5lskctqxxs2c8rf2zlzc7xx3qpvzs3w4etgemauy9thegr43sf485vg has a solution for DMs that uses the DHKE protocol.

I wonder if it can be extended to group chats?

The issue seems to be that you cannot subscribe to all the other pubkeys in active use at the same time. This works for your contact list, but you won't see a stranger's DM.
