Because open networks provide better value. Just like I believe Bitcoin is inevitable, the NOSTR protocol is censorship resistant, knows no borders, and content creators can receive monetary value in fractions of a "cent". I may not want to pay $6/ mo for a channel's content, but if I find content I like I would not mind sending them 5 pennys of value. Not to mention no shadow banning, political bias, etc.

Well, I don't share your optimism. Most poeple don't care about censorship, unless they are the ones that have been censored, of course. People just want "free" stuff and UI that works. Also, it's possible that micropayments will be implemented on other platforms as well.

These platforms have estabilished brands and huge resources. They can take care of users that don't want to deal with cryptography, relays, clients etc. Not to mention problematic users, like extremists, conspiracy theorists etc.

It may be too far-fetched conclusion, but I think most of people actually don't want to be free, because freedom means uncertainty. That's why I think they would rather choose centralised solutions. This applies to both social interactions (social media) and money.

I agree with many of your points. But its only a matter of time before people are tired of censorship, it is becoming quite a problem in traditional media.

But yes many people probably prefer to use these corrupt centralized platforms.

I understand you not sharing my optimism.

But I for one would rather be optimistic and wrong... Than be pessimistic and right
