I mean to be fair bonds give global liquidity, and financial security.
It's because Governments can issue bonds that economic growth is possible, while in the long term it is inflationary, healthy levels can be beneficial causing people to offload currency to maintain economic action.
That being said, it's an investment used by the wealthy to ensure basic returns in case of increased downside volatility of other assets.

Though there is a special name we give to people who hold government debt via bonds. We call them poor.
