Polls are supposed to be fun and informative, but the poll creator shouldn't get all the zaps and I should be able to give my vote without having to pay.
That's why basically nobody uses polls on nostr!
The solution here is polls based on reaction kinds. But so far clients are loathe to implement the ability for users to pick their reaction and instead force +/♥️, and 🤙and don't even support -
Thank you for addressing it. This doesn't make sense. I want to give some opinion but there are things that are not supposed to be zapped in my personal system of valuing things. We all have it. You can't change it.
Some poll implementations show the total votes and total sats zapped. Those that only show sats are fiat mentality
Nah. For me it’s a hybrid. Based on npub and 1 sat per npub. After the poll is done then all the sats are sent back to participants. If you allow any npub to participate without a cost then it will get manipulated by bots. But I agree with your point as well, whales will manipulate polls if it’s base only sats.
Hybrid and sent backs is the way.

Which reminds me that i need to activate the other poll options that were coded in the beginning. One of them allows you to set a fixed amount to participate in a poll.
npubs are cheap. It would cost nothing to a spammer to vote.
Meaningful votes to you perhaps are only from users in your network: your follows and perhaps their follows
Another rule is for a vote to count it must meet a minimum PoW.
Also a small cost to voting would be nice so that npubs don't get spin up to schedule skew results. Low barrier to poll but allows for everyone to play
This makes sense. One could setup a zap poll for important things and non zap polls for unimportant things.
That way who really cares if someone cheats as the poll is just for fun anyway
They believe in the cause so much to vote with such conviction.
A whale is a value provider(in the longer run), his vote should be counted with the weight.
Maybe voting is something best done on a site that takes trust rank into account.

Couldn’t a bot running (n) npubs accomplish the same influence without even the burden of spending sats?
A zap should grant you access to vote, then votes should be counted by npub rather than zap amount.
