This is a common mistake. Many people put an LNBC Lightning invoice in the Lightning field on Nostr. This is incorrect.

It's okay. It's a bit confusing because different clients call this different things. Some will say LUD06, LUD16, Lightning address, Lightning or some other form. No matter what, you'll want to enter either one or two things here.

It's either going to be a Lightning address that looks like an email address or a Lightning invoice that starts with LNURL...

Both of these types of Lightning payment addresses or invoices can be reused. This is what you want. This is key.

If you're entering LNBC...this is most likely a one time payment invoice. This is not what you want.

Good luck!

Is it possible for clients to detect this honest mistake?

I don't know why it wouldn't be. All they would have to do is do field validation. If they're expecting LUD06 and if someone enters LNBC it should error or fail or not allow them to save.

I've even seen people enter Bitcoin addresses in there.

#[3] could you add this validation? Seems easy enough?
