The first time I heard the teem "dark country" was a review by "This Aged Great" for the 80's Sky Stallone and Dolly Parton film "Rhinestone Cowboy". BTW, This Aged Great is a really funny channel.
Nice! I was also surprised by how deep the genre goes. I'll give this playlist a listen and see if I have any recommendations.

I thought I didn't like country music until I discovered Colter Wall. This is IMO the best rendition of his best murder ballad.

This band is more folk than country but here's a lovely little ditty about going to hell. Fun fact, they discovered Colter Wall in Saskatchewan and signed him to their label. 🤙
