The Delikkemer Aqueduct, located near Patara in Fethiye, Türkiye, is a remarkable example of ancient hydraulic engineering. Constructed during the reign of Emperor Claudius from 41 to 54 CE, and subsequently restored under Emperor Vespasian from 69 to 79 CE, this aqueduct was designed to transport water from a source situated approximately 700 meters above sea level, delivering it across a distance of 23 kilometers to the city.

Currently, only a 200-meter segment remains, with a maximum elevation of 10 meters. Distinct from the majority of aqueducts that utilize an open trough watercourse at their summit, this structure employs a unique stone block piping system. Ingeniously designed as a reverse siphonic aqueduct, it allows for the transportation of water uphill and across valleys.

The individual stone blocks are approximately 90 centimeters square and 50 centimeters thick, featuring a central aperture of 30 centimeters in diameter. One side of each block contains a recess, while the opposing side is fitted with a spigot. When assembled, the spigot of one block precisely fits into the recess of the subsequent block, creating an unbroken pipeline. Mortar is utilized to seal these connections, resulting in a large-diameter water conduit that effectively withstands pressure, thus ensuring a dependable water supply to the city.

I love how the ancient civilizations moved water. They were really intelligent. They didn't need Google to figure stuff out.

Fantastic right 👍. It's makes me think of the blockchain,but the water equivalent.

That is a great analogy

@PIunger

I love water 💦in all its forms. It literally is life. We die without it after just a couple of days. Our Bodies are something like 80% or more water. Also there is less than 1% of the water that is actual fresh drinking water on the planet.

To paraphrase Bruce Lee "Be like water my friend"

Exactly. This is why I love being a Plumber. I am a provider of water 🤣🤣. If only everyone just took a step back and realized how simple life is. Drink water. Breathe air. Eat well. Have good people in your life. It's actually not that hard. Lol
