With where the relationship is right now between China and the US, the odds of conflict are uncomfortably high.

It’s the same dynamic as with Russia and Ukraine. China views American policy as one of containment and if you look at a map it’s hard to counter that position. Same, at least in my opinion, was the case with NATO pushing for Ukraine membership key to Russia invasion.

It all goes to Taiwan and the headlines would have you think China is preparing for military action. I’m quite confident that they are not, but could do so if America pushes its current policy in the Pacific.

Are you anti-war and that’s why you care and want to negotiate peace?

I’m anti-war to my core, and my goal for now is just to provide as much context to the misguided “China posses a threat to the world” trope which is now far too prominent.

That’s why I appreciate your questions. I’ve been in Shanghai for 30 years, now more than half my life. Wherever I can share experiences or perspectives moves the process forward even if just at very small increments.

Dope! I’m glad that you are having a good experience there. Peace should be promoted wherever possible.
