Cleanliness is one of the most important steps to good coffee. Partially why I love simple manual coffee makers, easy to disassemble and clean every time.
I have an insulated stainless steel French press and a hand crank burr grinder. I don't grind the beans until the water is hot. I think this makes a big difference. I make much better coffee like this than any other way. Even with the French press, a deep clean can help. I usually just kind of rinse it out though.
With our Ninja, we can’t add the ground coffee after the water boils. Even fresh ground coffee must be in the filter before the damn thing will start…
