Paraschiva, as a young girl, upon hearing the Gospel read in church, gave away her clothes to a beggar. Her family, upset by her actions, was not pleased by her behavior. This event marked the beginning of her life dedicated to poverty and Christ. She later left home to live in Constantinople and then the Jordanian desert.
