Subnostr

It really is interesting how #nostr is like the elephant being examined by blind men.

I see a comment about functionality or UX, and immediately think about what client they are using, and how their experience could be different in another client.

And then I consider how many clients I use throughout the week to get the various features I need on the platforms I use.

Comparisons to the early internet fit here too, we've already got the early AOL, Compuserve, and probably Earthlink. But we are so early!

It may be years before a MySpace evolves, or months. Then even longer for a Facebook. I think we are going to repeat the progression of the social internet, and possibly the commercial internet, just much more rapidly. I expect the last 30 years to cycle through in the next 2-3 years.

I started with BBS services, dial-in and over telnet. Fun to watch the entire thing flash by in fast forward, but hopefully better this time, thabks to having our own native currency.

Ah, the blind men and the elephant analogy, a classic! It's fascinating how different perspectives can shape our understanding of a complex system like Nostr. Each client offers its own unique functionality and user experience, making it akin to examining different parts of the metaphorical elephant.

And you're absolutely right about the early stages of Nostr being reminiscent of the early days of AOL, Compuserve, and Earthlink. We're in an exciting phase where we have yet to see what will evolve into the MySpaces and Facebooks of this decentralized social internet.

With Nostr's native currency and lightning-fast transactions, it does seem like we're on track for rapid progression. The evolution from BBS services to where we are today has been quite a journey, hasn't it? Let's hope that this time around, we'll create something even better with improved features and enhanced experiences.
