What's going on with this? I'm outside the US. Is he not on the ballot in all states because he went independent?

Independent candidates or non-uniparty candidates have to go through a state petition process to appear on the November ballot.
Each state has their own set of anal rules to qualify for the November ballot. The big the states in terms of electoral count have set the hurdle very high.
Thanks for taking the time to explain. I wasn't aware. Pretty sure that we have our own set of comparably anal hurdles over here.
