Yes! The 1st time I tried to attend a Murakami event, wasn’t able to because so many fans. There was an overflow room where could watch him via video.
Most Americans have never heard of Murakami tho. I can actually do a 3rd-degrees-of-separation link to him via a The New Yorker magazine staff/writer met up for coffee in Brooklyn.
I like「The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle」「A Wild Sheep Chase」「Dance Dance Dance」📖💜
Not sure how many of those books I read. But A Wild Sheep Chase is one of two books I received from 🇬🇧Cambridge University educated 🇬🇧English Banker when he insisted on visiting me in my 20s.
So I’ve known about Murakami for many years. But actually, had heard of him before his visit cuz a VERY talented Artist and VERY physically beautiful girl friend had given me a copy of a story some random guy had given her, something like “On Seeing the Most Beautiful Perfect Girl” or something like that by Haruki Murakami.
🇬🇧Neil Gaiman knows about ____ cuz he gave me feedback on a poem I wrote which mentions her. It will NEVER EVER be published nor seen by anyone else again tho! Perhaps I will show it to my VERY WEALTHY & Goodlooking (NO facial hair!), and BRILLIANT intellectually Husband tho on our honeymoon!
