i think that funchal is the "beloved city" mentioned in revelation

the name seems to be related to the portuguese name for the herb fennel,"funcho" which is so damn close to funchal

fennel is a sweet herb, mild but similar to liquorice and is one of the ingredients in absinthe.

sweet and blessed are very close concepts

i'm sure there is many other aspects to this connection but that one i found by accident looking at the herbal tea section of the supermarket
