It shows our innate desire for simplicity rather than complexity. Similar to fiat vs #Bitcoin

I enjoy listening to it while working because it just sits in the background and doesn’t intrude into my focus.
It is a proven fact that the brain gets distracted by complex music if working on something else.
So lofi for ambient music is a no brain.
But complexity still wins for actual listening.

A time and place for lofi. Memes are lofi for example.

Interesting take. I never thought of it that way.
I think the obsession for lofi comes from our subconcious rejected the subliminal message from the pop music
And also reliving that nostalgic feeling. Digital sound is not the same as the analog sound from a tape
