Pro: it's faster than electrum, especially if you have a long wallet history with plenty of transactions (spent or unspent)

Con: I've heard it doesn't like unexpected shutdowns, like power outage.

More info if you want a deep dive:

Its index is so f'n fragile. If it gets corrupted by a power outage, you have to do the long reindexing from scratch.

Absolutely need a UPS for whatever machine it's on and automated nightly backups.

I got a UPS for nostr:npub1getal6ykt05fsz5nqu4uld09nfj3y3qxmv8crys4aeut53unfvlqr80nfm hub which kept breaking after one of our regular village power outages.

Yeah, I used it a while back. ElectrumX is my daily driver simply because I set it up long ago, but if I had to set up a fresh one I’d use Fulcrum.

There’s a config option, can’t remember what it’s called, where you can turn off some guard rails for faster initial sync. I DO NOT recommend it. It was faster synching while it worked, but inevitably it would crash and I’d have to start over.

I don’t know if they fixed whatever bug was causing the issue, but I’d recommend just using the default config options.

yes, but not on Umbrel.

requires more CPU than an Electrs but faster and way more than it, IMO
