All this environment of FUD serves to do in the end is see progressive gains from the last 30 years utterly destroyed and ultimately will see extremely conservative values pushed to the fore when the pendulum swings back.

The leftists behind this can’t see it as they think history only goes in one direction but mark my words, everything they’re doing is going to come back on them 3X worse.

You may be right. History certainly does not just go in one direction. China went from authoritarian communist to authoritarian capitalist, while the West is moving from libertarian capitalist to authoritarian socialist. The islamic world went from libertarian traditionalist free thinking to authoritarian dogmatic control in a short period as their golden age turned into their dark age. I think the West is uniformly becoming more authoritarian, but whether it goes conservative or progressive depends on who is in power... at some point the authoritarianism will be so high that whoever is in power will lock it down for a long time. The US is IMHO already locked democrat-progressive, I do not think it is possible at this point for the US to recover from that due to how many people in D.C. vote democrat, how incredibly pervasive the leftist deep state is. The only thing that will change is more authoritarianism, which will oppress American conservatives more and more. It is unfortunate that American conservatives believe so strongly in the sacredness of America, their constitution, their flag, their nation, because that is what traps them like frogs in a pot of boiling water. I think New Zealand still has a chance of going either way, and even possibly of pushing back on the authoritarianism. The ACT party is very libertarian and runs from 10% to 18% of the population, so that's a lot of pushback on authoritarianism. In the US neither party pushes back against authoritarianism (the republicans only slightly). I may be wrong, this is off the top of my head, lightly edited.

I agree with your stance. I don’t see a major victory politically in this country anytime soon, although I think the parallel economies continue to expand which will ultimately force change. Or maybe that’s hopium.

Something has to give. Average folks are hurting bad.
