Seemingly simple paintings are often the hardest. The subtle yet noticible color shifts and reflections from its surroundings make it a more difficult than high-contrast subjects. I had two other tries at this using 'wet in wet' and 'alla prima' techniques, but building it layer by layer was the only way to get lively results.
