Something I think about on the trail. There is a thru-hike trend to wear trail runners in stead of the old school boots that I grew up with. I also switched to trail runners and I like them. They are light and they dry really quick; I dont even bother to take them off at river crossings.

However , the new zealand hills and moutains seem to eat them alive. I am at my fourth pair, (3 brooks cascadia 18 and 1 topo mountain racer 3) whereas some fellow hikers wearing boots are still on their first pair! This is getting expensive. Would love to hear thoughts on this from my US friends, here on nostr. How long do these trail runners last you?
