Question: Is it safe to buy a second-hand Raspberry Pi 4 (or 5) from eBay? They're not terribly expensive new, but if I can get one for less... I don't want any danger of malicious software/spyware installed and giving others access to my data...

Additional info: I'll be replacing any Micro SD cards/storage devices that may come with it and performing clean installs of OS.

it should be fine, as those don’t have permanent storage included and all electronics are perfectly identifiable.

hmm maybe if they’ve used it for something illegal people could track it by MAC address or something like that but that’s an extremely low probability.

but If you buy from a respected seller, you should be ok.
