Something positive in your morning #grownostr feed. One of the best indicators of ecosystem health are amphibians. Well the #permaculture practiced on this property right now, that is about 3 miles from any surface water, must be banging.

I have aquatic systems that range from 300 to 6000 gallons and a few of them are simply loaded with these guys. Spring peepers. This system is about 2500 gallons but they are living mostly in three 150 gallon tanks that are part of the return system. This one tank must have 500 or more of them in it.

I added a small branch to help them climb out when they are ready. The lower part of the same system is a 1200 gallon shallow pond I grow azolla and water hyacinth in. There must be several hundred thousand tadpoles in it, mostly they are common toads. At night the place echos with frog and toad song now.

I also have bullfrogs, leopard frogs and both green and gray tree frogs on the property now. The leopard frogs were introduced, I bought 100 tadpoles a few years ago. Everyone else just showed up, natures version of, "if you build it they will come".
