Does anyone have any good resources on how to use zap.stream ?
Any basic/general info on live streaming for someone whos never streamed before would also be very welcome.
Probably a stupid question but when I try to start a stream, I click on api.zap.stream the loading icon just spins endlessly. If I click on manual, I need a stream url (HLS). Where can I obtain this?

So my stream setup looks like this. OBS > owncast > zap.stream
Your hls link you would get from owncast and should look like whatever your url is from your owncast instance.
Not exactly sure thats the advice you need. Whats your current set up like?

The API stream does this for me too. I can only stream via my own manual owncast server.

OBS on a desktop or laptop is the way, for now, though.
Have you tried clearing your cache? I'm about to go live and I can see the hosted streaming via zapstream's API just fine. I'm on Chrome (make sure you don't have ad-blocker or script blockers running).
If you can see that window grab the stream url and stream key and put them into the "streaming" setting in your OBS and when you go live your stream should appear on ZS. From there you can then optimise your OBS settings for your bandwidth, native resolution vs output, bitrate etc.
