anyway, can it be modified a bit to support joining a Bitchat channel? (As far as I know, there’s no decent desktop client for Bitchat so far, even though the platform has recently gained quite a bit of popularity as a tool for protesting government social media blocks in Nepal.")

got it -- FYI, a lightning address enables you to be zapped, and is different (or can be different) from your nip-05.
