Sold my car today. Grateful for the memories it helped us make, but good riddance to that money pit. 🤣🫡

Replacing it or don't need one anymore?

Eventually replacing it. We just replaced my wife’s car a couple months ago though, so we’re going to just share the one car for now. I really don’t want 2 payments 😭

Car insurance is up like crazy too.

Ours hasn’t been too bad but cutting a vehicle out will definitely help with that aspect

Is it mandatory? That's the biggest problem over here. They make it mandatory by law so it makes it overly expensive. And they all work with levels. So when you are young and have your discount level is 0, and it usually goes up to something like level 12 and every level is about 5% discount. You acquire higher levels by not claiming insurance for a full year.

Additionally if you claim the insurance company randomly drops a certain amount of levels you obtained, which means that in most cases you are better of not making a claim and just pay it out of your own pocket.

I really wish i could just insure myself for any physical damage i cause to a person. That can easily spiral out of control it the person in question ends up in the hospital for a long time or some other permanent handicap. Now i really feel like i'm paying way too much for a few scratches on somebody else's car that i have to pay myself anyway. Either directly, or by losing discount levels so you pay it back over a couple of years.

It's really crazy.

I pay almost $300 a month for full coverage on two paid off Model 3s. Between the two of us, only one small claim in 2015. That’s it, in 40 years of combined driving.

Hear me out

Yes 🙌
