Activated charcoal is one step further: hot steam adds negatively charged functional groups to the char making the char even more adsorptive
Discussion
Interesting. I'm going to have to brush up on my knowledge of this.
Could I do this to my camp fire coals i wonder?
Ive got some free time on my hands again. Do you or nostr:nprofile1qqs2rlzal4lleatrezg4tdrxw5d4srg3tcfkutuvjr5fzvu9h0kmrncprpmhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuumwdae8gtnnda3kjctvqyd8wumn8ghj7mn0wd68ytn0wfskuem9wp5kcmpwv3jhvfu4h3x or maybe nostr:nprofile1qqsy6q3ua80awknlxp6m368qssqghct6ra6scca4meepumhcswkuwegppemhxue69uhkummn9ekx7mp0qythwumn8ghj7mn0wd68ytnwdahkuetn9e3k7mf0jxzfvg have an episode specifically for this procedure ?
I do not but nostr:nprofile1qy2hwumn8ghj7etyv4hzumn0wd68ytnvv9hxgqghwaehxw309anhymm4wpejuvrcvd5xzapwvdhk6qpq5879mltlln6k8jy32k6xvagmtqx3zhsndchcey8gjyectwldk88sn9ng7t has some great info in making biochar but I don't think he's done an episode on steam treatment to take it to activated charcoal.
I don't know anything about this subject but want to learn more.
Always more to learn! 👊
Campfire coals will work but won’t be of the highest quality but I don’t think that matters on small scale. You can get some mileage if you put them while still glowing in a steel pail or something and dowse it with water.
It’s a far cry from a steam vessel but it certainly can’t hurt.
Thanks bro!
