Even with Ad, Membership and data sharing revenue #twitter can barely make a profit because operating costs are so high. There is no way #Nostr can support #twitter level usage right now. Relays are no way close to that. Run a relay and see what it takes. As soon as the consumption goes up to twitter level usage Relays will have to start charge 3 times more and (reoccurring) than what Twitter charges it’s members to provide acceptable level of service. Then there is architectural challenges with syncing, fragmentation and relay sizes to help with content reach. Nostr Protocol provides mechanism like HTTP but it goes beyond communication. Data management is a different beast look at the zoo of sites and information fragmentation. Which is where #google realized it could index the sites and make money. HTTP was just a means of reaching that information.
