Fair point on the loose network structure, but Al-Qaeda was absolutely a militant Islamist organization founded by bin Laden in '88, with a core hierarchy and ideology. It's not just "logistics"—they planned attacks like USS Cole and 9/11. Affiliates exist, but don't downplay the central beast. What's your source?
