Gm ☀️

I'm not sure I ever disclosed this, but I work everyday along people from public offices.

I swear, I never encountered so small-minded people, literally the definition of "working within the boundaries of what I've already done in the past because I have no mental elasticity at all to deal with something new or complex".

Nostr (and Bitcoin of course) is a happy place, plenty of smart people lurk and write here, devs are phenomenal and brilliant, thinking outside the proverbial box to resolve unexpected problems and it's magical being, if not a part, a spectator of it.

But when I close my client and go back to my job, a deep sense of frustration comes back to haunt me. How can being so illogic, listless and lazy be so frequent among these people?

Is a requirement for the job or is something you become after many years of knowing that your job is secured no matter how shitty your attitude and performance is?

I'm not sure these people want salvation.

Sorry for the rant, I don't mean to spread negativity, it's just a question that's floating in my mind for a while.

Pura vida ☀️🫂💜

Know what you mean. I’ve had to deal with this early in life. I didn’t know it then but learned later that these types of environments are toxic and unproductive. The best thing anyone in those shoes can do is find a place that’s the opposite - to work along side brilliant, energize and ambitious people who look beyond the mundane and follow a vision.

The easiest thing to do is to do nothing and remain at the place. After all, it’s easy, safe and secure.

But to find purpose and have a sense of fulfillment one must move on.

Luckly the company I work for is a private company, we just have to deal with them and, despite some of my colleagues are influenced by this way of thinking, a lot of them are smart and driven.

I am conflicted, living in Italy you are forced to deal with these environments due to our omnipresent bureaucratic infrastructure.

I'd have to move my ass away from this country, but I'd miss a lot of stuff, mainly the food 😂😂😂

Gotta stay for the food 🙌 😂

Similar vibes in Spain. My advice is: ignore the negativity, focus on you and your family and enjoy the good things in the country: culture, history, gastronomy and scenery. Build a local network of like minded people.

Where we are heading the bureaucrats and NPCs don't matter.

Love that last sentence 💜🫂

Italian food and slow lifestyle is so special

Honestly, without Bitcoin, without knowing there’s a light at the end of the tunnel… I dont blame them

Yeah but I do know there is a future, so why being so little?

Yes that is very true. The tend to play victim and discharge all their responsabilities to anyone but themselves (even among colleagues). It's undignifying.

Been there. Done that. Luckily, I haven't had to deal with this type of work environment for almost three years now. Places like that don't want to help you progress, they want to enslave you. 🤷‍♂️

In many places, changing a bureaucratic process encounters a similar level of resistance as changing bitcoin's code. I wonder how many of these people have tried it when they were new to the job and full of energy & can-do attitude, but failed and then become discouraged, aligned and ultimately ossified

Yeah, I believe many of them may have started as promising young recruit, I know a couple of them, but I also know young people that have no intention in contributing positively.

Last example is this young person who's blocking a +hundreds thousands euros account based solely on a technicality, raised by their own mistake.

The taxpayer is unpatiently waiting to receive back their money, while they are laughing and talking about vacation in their offices.

The taxpayer could go bankrupt, their job is still ensured no matter what.

Pura vida 🌞 Ignore the negativity and stay on your path 🫂

Good morning, and I know how you feel.
